Us in Another Universe
The ‘Us in another universe’ trend started in late 2023 and really took off in early January 2024. It all started with this video of two adorable cats walking together, and soon everyone was posting their own version of two things that belong together. (My favorite might be the two sharks).
The team got together to brainstorm how we could not only take on the trend, but add something to it. To boost engagement in the comments, we decided we should choose a pairing that is a little controversial. My first thought? Pineapples on pizza.
We decided the checkout belt would add a nice bit of movement, so I headed to the store to capture our in-house pizza brand along with some pineapple. I had originally planned to use canned pineapple, but when I saw the actual fruit in the produce section, I knew that’d be so much more eye-catching on camera.
When I was in the store I happened to see Shrek on DVD and an alternate idea came to me. As we all know, Shrek is love, Shrek is life. The millenial love for Shrek is a constant on social media, so I paired the DVD with an onion and laughed as I filmed the items gliding along the checkout belt.
When all was said and done, the strategy team chose pineapple and pizza to be posted to our channel, but Shrek lives on, here on this site.
